TOPIC: Perseverance

TEXT: Heb 10:34-39

AIMS:

i. to discuss the scriptural context of perseverance and its effect on our Christian race and

ii. to analyse the consequences of lacking this virtue.

INTRODUCTION

Perseverance means being persistent with enduring patience despite the difficulties or delays weface. According to our Bible passage today, persevere in faith, especially when we faced with difficulties isabout trusting God to fulfil his promises and that He understands our situation and sees our distress.Running the Christian race without perseverance can be very fruitless. Our Bible study is designed todiscuss more on this.

STUDY GUIDES

1. Discuss perseverance in the context of our text (Heb. 10:35-39) with reference to Rom 8:35-37.

2. How can we stand without throwing away our confidence in Christ according to Heb. 10:35-36? Relatewith Matt 5:11-12.

3. From the following scriptures, discuss some important reasons believers are exhorted to persevere evenin the face of failures, disappointments and other life's adversities. Matt. 24:13; Gal. 6:9; Jam 1:12.

4. What is the consequence for those who spurn perseverance in the Faith? Mk 8:38; Rev 21:8.

CONCLUSION:

We are daily confronted with challenges that can push us off from the godly track to thekingdom of God. However, our persistence, patience and perseverance when contacted with thesechallenges will always keep us on track.
