SEPTEMBER 22, 2024

THEME: The Christian Race

SUB-THEME: Motivators in the Christian race 2

TOPIC: Enoch

TEXT: Gen. 5: 21-24; Heb 11:5-6

AIMS:

i. to study what qualified Enoch to walk with God

ii. to understand the implications of walking with God through Enoch’s propheticdeclaration.

INTRODUCTION

Enoch in those days of longevity of life lived 365 years before he was translated without experiencing death. Enoch lived a life that pleased God and was blameless in his walk with God. He must have lived a visible life of fellowship, obedience and faith, which resulted in divine favour.

STUDY GUIDES

1. From the following passages describe your understanding of the man, Enoch and the qualities thatmade him God’s favourite in his time. Gen. 5:21-24; Heb. 11: 5.

2. From the testimony of Jude 1:14-20, analyse Enoch as a preacher on earth. How can we be challenged with his livelihood in our generation.

3. How can people be alive and yet dead? Discuss in the context of 1Sam 16:1; 1Tim 5:6.

4. Our generation is filled with various ungodly habits. How can we walk with God? 1Thess. 4: 14-17.

CONCLUSION:

Enoch was translated before the judgment of the flood and so can be said to be a type of those saints who will rapture before the apocalyptic judgments (1 Thess. 4: 14-17). Enoch’s lifestyle should be a challenge to motivate us to walk with God instead of only working for God.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

Walk with God and reign with Him.

MEMORY VERSE:

Heb. 11:5 "By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”, for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.".
